We currently have no plans to grow and sell produce for resale this year (2024).
Harvest To Be...
While we have had both fruitful years, drought years, and years with 40+ inches of rain… we have also taken years off gardening as we expanded our family (2019 included). Each year that we do have a garden we always try to grow something that we've never grown before; both for fun and as a challenge! A few years ago it was eggplant while another year it was peanuts.
Our garden planning normally starts in January; as soon as we the first seed catalog of the year arrives in the mail. The kids have enjoyed being a part of the selecting process, and if it was up to Bentley, we would probably buy everything in the catalog! What we don’t buy to start from seed or what ends up not growing from seed we purchase from the local Amish Greenhouse.
We always encourage you to come see where your food is grown (that is if you don’t mind the jungle of weeds at time). We offer a “pick-your-own” on almost all our produce including: strawberries, green beans, corn, cucumbers, and pumpkins just to name a few. We also enjoy canning so if you do as well and would like to order large quantities the earlier we know the better. Or perhaps if canning and preserving your own foods sparks an interest we’d be happy to include in our annual festivities.
