Fresh from the Farm
We are excited to be offering “shares” of the farm through a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. This is where you a “shareholder” will pay a fee at the beginning of the growing season and then in return will receive a portion of the farm’s fresh-picked harvest every other week, all season long.
There are many benefits to a CSA such as:
- Supporting a local family farm without a middleman.
- The food is fresh, which encourages healthy cooking and eating! Your leafy greens will stay fresh longer, and your tomatoes will be picked when they are ripe for peak flavor.
- Its’ inexpensive (Roughly $30 every other week).
- It's interactive (help pick your own produce, meet your neighbors, network with fellow enthusiasts).
- There are fun surprises (expand your palates by trying things you never would have tried before).
2017 CSA Membership Form
Why join?
Why join a CSA? A CSA membership gives you the satisfaction of knowing that each week during the growing season you will be eating farm fresh, locally grown produce. It is a convenient and easy way to shop in this fast paced world because everything is ready for you when you come to pick it up on your designated day. A CSA membership allows a member to better understand how challenging farming can be and offers you the opportunity to develop a greater appreciation for your local farmer. A CSA member receives offers that are sometimes not available to other farm customers.
What is included in a share?
The Minestream Farm CSA members will receive 11 weeks (every other week -- June thru October) of our own farm fresh produce. Members will have the option of choosing to pick up Friday at the Mt. Union Farmer's Market or Thursday evening at The Minestream Farm. Members will pick up their boxes filled with items that are available that week. Members will also be allowed to take extra produce at a discounted cost when they come to pick up their weekly produce. Expected produce may include strawberries, sweet corn, a variety of tomatoes, zucchini, spaghetti squash, green/yellow beans, white/red/purple potatoes, peppers, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon, broccoli, cabbage, beets, carrots, onions, garlic, sweet potatoes, and a few herbs.
How much does a share cost?
Shares for The Minestream Farm will include a every other week supply of produce, the average value through-out the year is $30.00 per week. Drop-ins are welcome, and the prices are the same, though we do encourage you to sign up for the whole season. The cost of a share (11 weeks/every other week) is $300.00 and includes a 1 week discount. If you do decide to order by the week, please let us know your order a week in advance.
Please know that the produce that you will be receiving is based on success and maturity of the crop. As the bounty of summer flourishes and higher dollar value produce becomes available, it may seem that the weekly quantity in your box is lesser compared to the beginning of the season, but remember that your designated dollar value for the weekly produce still remains the same.
How and where do I pick up my share?
You can decide where you would like to pick up your share from, from the following locations and times. Please, contact us if additional hours/locations are needed. Brad works in Mt. Union and Jill works in Chambersburg, so we will try to accommodate to suit your needs.
